Canterbury Hills Camp is located in the heart of Dundas, neighbouring the Conservation Authority. Over the course of 50 years of camping ministry, Canterbury Hills has provided a place for children and youth to explore nature, spirituality, and personal development through our unique program. Based on the philosophy of child-centered, unit based, and decentralization, campers at Canterbury Hills are able to tailor their own session with their unit based on their needs and interests as they learn cooperation and leadership.
The responsibility and trust placed in our staff is immense and requires individuals with the energy, skills & mature attitude to make the summer full of special memories. We are seeking individuals who are looking to explore their own leadership potential, to learn, to grow, and to be challenged.
Job Description:
- Cabin Leaders work with campers aged 5-15 years
- Sessions range from 5-8 nights in length
- Each Unit lives, eats, and does daily activities together
- Cabin Units are arranged based on gender, age, and individual camper requests
- Each Unit includes 2 Cabin Leaders, a Leader-In-Training and 8 campers. Together the entire Unit plans their schedule for their time at camp, including special events for the whole camp, chapel, and campfires.
- Cabin Leaders are responsible for safety, supervision, and leading of activities with the campers
- Additional Residential Cabin Leaders provide 1:1 support and integration of campers with physical and/or developmental needs
- Time off is between camp session
Qualifications:
- Hold current Standard First Aid & CPR C Certification, or willingness to obtain essential
- Previous experience working in a summer camp or with children/youth considered an asset
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Commitment to attend all training events and sessions
- National Lifeguard Service considered an asset, but not required
- Provide a recent Police Reference Check upon hiring
