Job Overview:
This role provides Technical and Operational expertise for Loblaw infrastructure Platforms and Business Processes. Ensure adherence to ITIL best practices through coaching and mentorship. Provide training to lower level members of the Service Support Team where required.

Accountabilities:
• The development of standards and standard operating procedures for the Storage and Data backup infrastructures domain.
• Publish and maintain standards to enable storage and data backup for servers, databases, applications, networks, and platforms based on Loblaw (LCL) architecture standards or approved exceptions.
• Create, publish and maintain design standards for the storage and data backup infrastructure, including the configuration of storage arrays across multiple availability tiers (highly available, non-production, archival), configuration and utilization of data backup and remote data replication infrastructure (virtual and physical tape technologies, SAN to SAN replication, remote deduplication, Symantec Netbackup, etc.)
• Design and maintain the design solution documentation for the integration, consolidation and centralization of the protection of LCL's data across remote offices and Distribution Centers, define standard data backup retention rules
• Design consulting to the project teams as SME for the storage and backup technologies domain, including, but not limited to, the definition of various storage and data backup artifacts, such as tiers of storage based on availability requirements
• Participate, as the SME in the storage and backup technologies domain, in the intake process for feasibility study for business proposals, as well as costing exercises for the various projects
• Participate, as the SME in the storage and backup technologies domain, in setting the strategic and tactical direction of patch and release management as it pertains to this domain
• Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the design of the remote deduplication and data replication services, including SAN to SAN replication, remote backups, deduplication, among others.
• Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the design of the Storage and Backup management and monitoring solutions, including IBM TPC, Brocade DCFM, Symantec Netbackup Reporter, among others
• As the SME for the storage and data backup technologies, investigate new technologies and identify opportunities where these technologies can enhance LCL's capabilities in a cost-effective manner

• Post Secondary education in Computer Science or related discipline
• Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced environment where priorities can continually change
• 5+ years of experience designing Storage and backup technologies
• Expert knowledge of Storage technologies, date backup technologies and Tape Hardware Architecture
• Proficient knowledge of Storage virtualization, data center infrastructure, and SAN / NAS technologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate technical standards clearly and concisely
• Demonstrated ability with problem solving techniques; such as root cause analysis to resolve issues.
• The Ability to apply critical thinking to abstract issues
• Self-starter capable of working in a fast paced environment with minimal direction
• Prefer experience with Hitachi HDS Storage & IBM DS6000/ DS8000
