this position sounds more senior than it is –it’s ENTRY / JUNIOR level – Help Desk – phone and e-mail support – they WILL get to play with servers and work in a small data center for troubleshooting etc – but it’s not the focus of the role.
For someone at this level – communication skills in English are KEY. Need someone who has a KEEN and positive personality. Bottom line – it’s a 6 month contract with either extensions or the possibility of going perm with a small firm in Whitby / Oshawa. Hourly rate will reflect the nature of the role.
POSITION:
We are currently seeking an applicant to fill the role of IT Support Technician. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical assistance to our clients throughout the GTA.
Provide assistance on the; deployment, configuration, support and maintenance of network hardware, servers, and enterprise systems (directory, email, databases, etc.) including the monitoring of servers performance and disk space requirements.
• Assist in ensuring the infrastructure can support the requirements of the business as we continue to expand.
• Document the infrastructure architecture environment and administrative procedures to ensure our infrastructure remains efficient, reliable, cost effective, and of high quality.
• Always implement solutions with the company’s data integrity and recoverability in mind.
• Administer, support and grow company backup and recovery systems as required.
• Configure, deploy & support new Servers / PCs / Laptops /Blackberries and other equipment
• Maintain and support printers and other network peripherals
• Share responsibility of after hours support for service outages on a rotating basis with your colleague(s).
THE REQUIREMENTS:
• A diploma in computer/network infrastructure studies, Microsoft certification MCP or MCSE is an asset.
• three or more years’ experience working in a technical support environment
• Experience administering Windows 2003 or 2008 server operating system
• Experience administering and deploying Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange and VMWare
• Experience troubleshooting email servers and SMTP
• Experience deploying and administering Firewall / VPN solutions
• Experience troubleshooting networking and internet connectivity related issues
• Experience with WAN and LAN, Terminal Services and Remote access and wireless technology
