Respite Service Facilitator - Casual

Permanent Casual positions available Brampton site Work Arrangement: On-site Position Summary: ErinoakKids is currently seeking energetic Respite Service Facilitators to support children and young adults that are medically and/or behaviourally complex within respite services. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and work towards supporting clients as they participate in daily living activities. Schedule Requirements: Must be available to work 5 shifts/month 3 of these shifts must be a weekend shift (Friday 4:00pm to Monday 6:00am). The other 2 shifts can be weekend shifts or weekday shifts. Shifts are typically: 6:00am – 4:00pm (morning/day) 8:00am – 4:00pm (morning/day) 8:00am – 6:00pm (morning/day) 4:00pm – midnight (evening) 6:00pm – 6:00am (overnight) Midnight – 8:00am (overnight) Key Responsibilities: Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating activities of daily living for participants in the Respite Program; Engage in general client care including feeding, dressing, bathing as well as full support for diapering and toileting; Work towards maximizing client independence in day to day activities; Promote participation in leisure activities and social skill development; Employ behavior management strategies as appropriate; Operate transfer and mobility equipment. Qualifications : Must have or be working towards Child & Youth Worker (CYW) diploma, Developmental Support Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Personal Support Worker (PSW), Autism Behavioural Sciences (ABS) certificate or relevant education and/or experience; Experience working with children and/or young adults with physical and developmental disabilities is preferred; Experience working with children and/or young adults with medical needs such as seizures, tracheostomies and feeding tubes; Experience working with children and/or young adults with challenging behaviors; Experience with assisting individuals in personal care; Knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an asset; Current C.P.R. and First Aid and CPI certificate is preferred; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, overnight and weekends; Enjoy working with children in a team atmosphere; Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
