Description:
Under the supervision of the Supervisor and/or Team Leader, the Specialized Operator, Roads and Railways carries out repair and maintenance work on roads and railways, as well as general tasks. The incumbent will: Ensure his or her own safety and that of other workers during work and comply with railway operating regulations. Participate in and perform maintenance and inspection programs on roads and railways. Repair switches and railway lines in order to meet current standards and make them safe for rail traffic operations. Carry out welding and oxy-cutting work on road and rail components. Operate the heavy and specialized equipment required for work. Participate in snow removal. Complete reports and documentation related to own work. Perform other related duties or tasks requested by supervisor. Participate in the continuous improvement of his/her department and service. Qualifications Professional degree (DEP) in welding or other relevant technical training. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. 5 to 7 years of relevant experience Experience in operating heavy machinery. Training in welding/oxy-cutting (an asset). Experience in the railway sector (an asset). Skills in operating and manoeuvring heavy equipment and vehicles. Good judgment, vigilance, accuracy and attention during operations. Teamwork. Readiness to work outdoors regardless of bad weather. Very good physical condition (able to lift 20 kg or more). Class 3 driver's license required.
