Location: Burlington Status: Full-time, summer contract Department: Finance Compensation: $25 hourly ABOUT ISLAMIC RELIEF: Islamic Relief is a faith-based relief and development agency working to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Established in 1984, we now work in over 45 countries assisting individuals, families and communities through emergency response and development projects that typically help over 10 million people each year. Islamic Relief is a member of the Humanitarian Coalition. JOB PURPOSE: We are looking for an ambitious Summer Student to provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. You will be part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for Islamic Relief Canada’s finances. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Donation Revenue Management: Record and reconcile donation revenues accurately and in a timely manner. Work closely with the development team to ensure all donations are properly documented and categorized. Financial Data Accuracy: Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data in the organization's accounting system. Perform regular reconciliations of accounts related to donation revenues. Transaction Management: Manage high volumes of financial transactions efficiently and accurately. Process, review, and reconcile transactions related to donations, grants, and other revenue streams. Compliance: Ensure compliance with non-profit standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal control Qualifications/Competencies: Experience: Demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications Experience in preparing detailed financial documents Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Highly detail-oriented Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organization Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen Strong problem-solving skills Understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices Well-organized, and able to work well in a team environment Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Must be eligible to work in Canada As this is a Canada Summer Jobs position, all applicants must meet eligibility guidelines as specified by Service Canada in order to be considered for the above position: be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*; be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
