In this role, the Engineer I will also make recommendations and lend their experience to the Engineering team, identifying key improvements, as well as failure modes of parts. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Innovation & Technology Lead R&D projects focused on new technologies and concepts for wheel hub bearings Perform competitor benchmarking Product Management Assist with manufacturer onboarding and quality management Perform NPI to expand product lines Write and maintain technical documentation including customer assembly drawings, manufacturing details and new product specifications Maintain manufacturing drawing/print database including creating, filing, obsoleting, retrieving and tracking changes Work with peers on validating completed specification & conceptual drawings before submitted to contract manufacturers Resolve supplier concerns Product Quality Perform root cause analysis on product quality issues Create and implement action plan, lessons learned Re-evaluate products and identify opportunities for improvement Review and complete testing data to quantify improvements that have been made to various designs Standards Create, improve and maintain design standards used for product lines Organize and standardize documents used for internal and external communication QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Post secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering degree or relatable field 3+ years of experience in automotive component design Previous experience in bearing design an asset Proven experience working with AutoCAD Inventor Proven experience with APQP Demonstrated ability to work accurately in a fast-paced team environment.
