2024 Summer Student Job Position SummaryTaku River Tlingit First Nation (TRTFN) is located in Atlin, a small community of approximately 470 people, located about 174Km south of Whitehorse, in the northwest portion of the province of BC, in the Stikine region.We are looking to hire 2 students from the Mining/Environment/Geology/GIS/Earth Sciences disciplines for summer of 2024. The summer work period is expected to start approximately 6/May/2024 and to end approximately 6/Sept/2024. The summer students will be expected to work within the mining division of TRTFN’s Lands and Resources department. Will report to the TRTFN Mining Coordinator. Duties/Responsibilities:Sample collections (Water, Soil, Fish, Benthic, Plankton, Mercury, etc.) Mine site visits and mine site evaluations. Documenting and filing of various information as required. Use of Geographical Information System (GIS) software for mapping duties. Work related to TRTFN/Teck Resources/Tulsequah Valley activities. Any other duties within the Lands and Resources department as directed.Requirements/Qualifications: Be a student from a recognized Canada College/University preferably studying Mining/Environment/Geology/GIS/Earth Sciences. Poses a valid BC Class 5 Drivers licence or equivalent from any other Canadian provinces. Adequate in Microsoft office suites with GIS/CAD software expertise as a beneficial asset. Ability to respectfully follow directions and an eager willingness to learn and grow. Abide by TRTFN employee code of conduct/employee handbook. Remuneration/Benefits Pay rate per hour: $25 Re-imbursement for relocation costs to Atlin for each student. Max of $2500 Accommodation subsidy: $500 a month for 3 months = $1500 Total Pay periods: Approximately 9 or 10 biweekly pay periods at 72Hrs per pay period: Total expected gross earnings for summer of 2024: $25 X 72 X 9/10 = Between $16200 to $18000
