Employment Type: Part-time Department: Seniors and Children & Youth Services Union: Included (CUPE Local 2497) Salary: Level 1 - $21.19/hr File #: 24-SCY-15 Posting Date : May 6, 2024 Posting Close: May 20, 2024 The Respite Care Worker will be required to work part-time hours, Monday-Friday. Hours are based on clients needs and/or up to a maximum of 20 hours per week. Position Summary Reporting to the Supervisor, Assisted Living and Home Support, the primary responsibility of the Respite Care Worker will be to offer PSW support and provide caregiver relief. Services include assistance with light personal care, engagement in activities and meal preparation. Duties and Responsibilities Monitor and report any changes in clients physical, emotional or psychological functioning Provide personal care that may be required, such as feeding, dressing, toileting, bathing, lifting, transferring, and medication reminders as needed Maintain client progress notes Work collaboratively with the department, manager, Dixon Hall staff and volunteers Follow Dixon Hall's program policies and procedures, including the Mission, Vision and Values. Understand and maintain confidentiality with families, individuals and Dixon Hall Work independently and make decisions in difficult situations Follow Workplace Health and Safety plans Respect family lifestyles and choices Does not impose personal judgments and expectations on families or individuals Participate in department and agency meetings, and events as required Meet regularly with manager to discuss individual, team and program effectiveness. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Personal Support Worker (PSW) Diploma Minimum 2 years’ experience working with seniors, individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and adults with disabilities Demonstrable understanding and commitment to supporting individuals from diverse cultures, experiences and backgrounds Strong written and verbal English language communication skills Fluency in additional languages relevant to the communities served will be considered an asset Ability to work independently and to be flexible Commitment to the care of clients Experience documenting and maintaining accurate client and program records Able to maintain strict confidentiality Basic computer skills will be an asset Valid certificates in Standard First Aid and CPR Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency Up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19 with a vaccine approved for use in Canada Dixon Hall is dedicated to fostering an inclusive selection process and work environment, guided by their Race Relations and Employment Equity Policies.
