DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PROJECT ASSISTANT - SUMMER STUDENT Temporary Contract: 9 weeks Estimated Start Date: June 3, 2024 30 hours per week, $17.00 per hour (Monday – Friday) At Community Support Connections, we wake up each morning energized about the difference we make in the lives of our clients; people who could be your parents, grandparents, friends, or neighbours. The Diversity and Inclusion Project Assistant will contribute to the continuous improvement of work practices where all employees, volunteers and clients have a sense of belonging. They will research content and current practices, collaborate with stakeholders, and produce an array of written content for educational, training and inclusion purposes. Tasks and Responsibilities Research, develop and implement activities focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism content for internal training purposes Suggest, develop and/or collaborate in the production of new documents, communications and practices that reflect diversity and inclusion practices Recommend strategies that contribute to an inclusive work environment and sense of belonging Make recommendations to ensure that all current and future clients feel included Collaborate with our Client and Family Advisory Council (CAFAC) as needed, to gain client perspective on belonging and inclusion Collaborate with stakeholders and participate in outreach activities Identify and operationalize cultural recognition and educational opportunities Create new and/or strengthen the DEI content on our internal (SharePoint) and external webpages Enthusiasm to help with other duties as required Deliver Meals on Wheels route when needed Requested Skills/Qualifications This job is funded through Canada Summer Jobs 2024 , and to be eligible applicants must: Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with Ontario legislation and regulations Successful candidate must be able to work from satellite office Completed or working towards a degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant discipline (equity studies, human rights, sociology, human resources, etc.) Understanding of Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, and other relevant legislation Satisfactory police records check for the vulnerable sector Ability to complete tasks autonomously and in a timely manner Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail Work well in collaboration with others and maintain positive working relationships Interest or experience in the community sector and working with diverse populations Strong sense of partnership, equality and social justice Excellent communication skills Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Valid Driver’s License and daily access to a safe, licensed and reliable vehicle for business-related travel is an asset Application Information Please submit resume and cover letter highlighting the unique attributes you bring to the position by noon on May 15, 2024 .
