Summary of the Role: The Auto Body and Collision Technician Apprentice will be responsible for repairing and restoring damaged motor vehicles including but not limited to: performing safety-related functions, using tools and equipment, use of welding equipment, organizing work and documentation, removing and installing vehicle components, surface preparation, applying refinishing materials, detailing, remove and install structural glass, servicing SRS systems, structural repair, and servicing mechanical and electrical systems. Key Responsibilities: Performs safety-related functions. Uses and maintains tools and equipment. Uses and maintains welding equipment. Organizes work and uses documentation. Applies corrosion protection and sound deadening materials. Removes and installs trim and weather strips. Performs inspection. Prepares for repair and replacement of structural components. Repairs, removes and installs structural components. Removes, installs and repairs structural glass. Removes, repairs and installs metal panels and components. Removes, repairs and installs plastic and composite panels and components. Removes and installs non-structural glass. Deactivates and reactivates alternate-fuel systems. Removes and installs mechanical components. Removes, repairs and installs electrical components. Repairs and replaces interior components. Services supplemental restraint systems (SRS). Prepares surfaces. Uses fillers, primers and surfacers. Prepares and applies refinishing materials. Details exterior. Cleans vehicle. Other duties as required. Key Requirements, Experience and Skills: Enrollment in the Auto Body and Collision Damage Repairer (Technician) Apprenticeship Program (310B) from a respective College or demonstrated relevant work experience. Auto Body and collision repair experience an asset. Mechanic experience is an asset. WHMIS and additional environmental health and safety training an asset. Welding experience an asset. Attributes: Willing to learn and continually develop skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or work well as part of a team. Strong work ethic. Numerical competence. Good judgment and decision making. Willing to take initiative. Willing to be 'hands on', i.e. get hands dirty and do what it takes to get the job done. Strong communication skills both oral and written. Self-starter. Punctual and reliable. About E.S.
