By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members. This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Youth Services This role is crucial for the integration of services within Youth Services and external agencies, aiming to improve overall mental health care coordination and outcomes for clients. The incumbent will also support youth during urgent mental health crises and participate in community collaboration efforts to enhance the continuity and effectiveness of mental health services How You Will Make an Impact You will be responsible for providing leadership in mental health services for youth, particularly those who are unhoused or at risk. This involves creating and executing comprehensive mental health assessments and treatment plans tailored to individual needs, including behavior management. You will collaborate closely with families through mediation and counseling, maintain client confidentiality, and ensure the adherence to an anti-racism/anti-oppression framework in all interactions. Additionally, you will engage in direct communication with other healthcare professionals like psychiatrists to coordinate care and manage medication, ensuring that all treatments align with best practices and the latest developments in the mental health field. Key responsibilities also include active participation in team meetings, supporting the Clinical Manager in administrative tasks, policy development, and quality assurance of the Youth Services Mental Health Program. You will provide training and guidance to new and existing team members, promote effective communication within the team, and act as an advocate for youth to ensure they receive necessary referrals and supports. What You'll Bring to Our Team Assessment skills, counseling and case management skills, acquired through a combination of education (MSW, BSW, MA or M.Ed in counselling) and experience in mental health service provision Knowledge of community resources and services, social and environmental determinants of health, evidence informed practices in working in child/adolescent mental health, ability to develop and facilitate programs/groups to teach emotional and behavioral management skills Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team setting Current CPR and First Aid certificate Valid driver's license required Excellent verbal and written communication, computer, interpersonal and organizational skills.
