Join our Peer Assisted Care Team as a: Mental Health Crisis Support Worker Native Healing Centre - Health Services Full Time: 40 hrs/week - $30-33/HR The PGNFC Peer Assisted Care Team (PACT) provides an alternative to the presence of police personnel at mental health crisis calls in Prince George. The teams offer crisis support services that integrate cultural safety protocols and holistic care options. Mobile teams comprise of a mental health professional and a peer (someone with lived or living experience) which are available during scheduled service hours under the supervision of a clinician and team lead. This program aims to reduce the harms experienced by people who have or are suffering a mental health crisis. The Mental Health Crisis Worker will incorporate knowledge and experiences in crisis assessment and intervention, de-escalation, harm reduction, suicide prevention, anti-oppressive practice, client-centred and recovery-oriented care, trauma-informed practice, and culturally competent care to support individuals and families experiencing a crisis in Prince George. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a related field from a recognized university. Experience in community mental health and addictions field. Certification in or willing to obtain: First Aid, Food Safe, Class 4 Driver's License, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution, Naloxone Training. Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search. Ability to work outdoors and understand harm reduction as a practice. A strong knowledge of clinical and crisis assessments, concurrent disorders, homelessness, crisis intervention strategies, trauma-informed practice, strengths-based models Understanding and knowledge of working with persons with mental health and/or addictions issues as well as an understanding of the intersectionality of systemic barriers and social determinants of health. Knowledge of systemic and structural factors that impact Indigenous, minorities and LGBTQ2S+ communities. The ability to maintain a non-judgmental and non-stigmatizing approach is required. Willingness to participate in on-the-job on-going training and outside training. Good verbal, written communication, and problem-solving skills Must be willing to work shifts that include overnight, weekends and holidays. Preference will be considered for Indigenous applicants .
