We currently specialize in the formulation, mixing and packaging of private label oatmeal to the North American grocery market with our largest category served being single serve instant oatmeal and specialty blends. Here’s what you will do as Accounting Manager : The Accounting Manager is a key member of our Finance team and will be responsible for efficient and timely execution of full cycle accounting, payroll, reporting, cost analysis and budgeting of business operations. The Accounting Manager will collaborate with our entire business and finance team. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and general accounting in compliance with policies, guidelines, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end activities including supporting audit inquiries and financial analysis of results against budget/forecast; Management and smooth functioning of the payroll, ensuring the timely completion of all payroll functions, including applicable remittances (Revenue Canada, WSIB, etc.) and monthly reports. Maintain VMFG Payroll files; Support the development of annual financial budget for VMFG with cross-functional teams input; Conduct monthly management reporting and ad hoc analysis for senior leadership team; Complete balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis; Conduct purchase analysis, physical inventory control, internal controls, including, forecasting/budgeting including capital and fixed assets; Evaluate transactions and record to the general ledger to ensure financials are accurate and complete; Support national and international company tax policies and procedures including monthly tax filing and any statutory audits; Conduct ad-hoc analysis of reporting requests from various departments and stakeholders; Oversee day-to-day treasury activities, including liaison and maintaining relationships with the banks, administering banking & credit card platforms, compliance reporting, streamlining & maintaining payments and expense reimbursement processes and tools, deploying and maintaining ACH & EFT payments, timely bank reconciling, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies; Develop product costing bids for new customer acquisition and present to leadership team for approval; Analyze pricing and cost estimates for new business opportunities; Review and maintain the Company cash flow, including forecasting, planning, and management; Provide mentorship to Accounting team to effectively and efficiently complete accounting transactions; Special projects as assigned for the overall benefit of the Company.  Here’s what you’ll need to be successful as Accounting Manager: Degree or diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA designation (or studying for) preferred; 3-5 years experience in full cycle accounting, financial analysis, or related discipline preferably in manufacturing setting with direct exposure to inventory controls. Experience with cost analysis beneficial; Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP; Demonstrated knowledge of financial transactional activities including accounting, payroll, revenue and expenditure control, MRP systems, internal control principles and financial management practices; Exposure to posting EFT/ACH vendor entries with financial institutions (i.e. RBC and CIBC) Experience processing full cycle payroll. In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance; Advanced proficiency in MS Excel skills for data analytics and reporting. Familiarity with HRIS / Payroll software; Collaborative with excellent verbal and written communication skills; Team oriented with excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders as well as cross-functional teams; Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, investigative, and analytical skills; Strong problem-solving skills; Exceptional organizational and time management skills with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to effectively prioritize workflows and meet deadlines; High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability; Flexible, adaptable and open to wearing many hats in our nimble and growing business.
