Apprentice Mechanic / Shop HelperLocation: Chetwynd, BCStandard Bus Contracting is currently looking for an Apprentice Mechanic / Shop Hand to join our maintenance team in Chetwynd. This position is ideal for a mechanically inclined and self-starting individual who is looking to gain experience or potentially enrolling in an apprenticeship program.Wage: $25.50 per hourKey Responsibilities: * Help mechanics in performing maintenance and repairs on buses * Assist with basic tasks such as replacing lights, topping up fluids * Spring and winter maintenance * Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs * Bus starts on cold mornings * Clean shop and return tools to the proper location * Building and yard maintenance * Attend and participate in safety meetings and inspections * Perform various other related duties as assignedRequired Skills and Abilities: * Registered Apprentice or looking to become one * Excellent mechanical skills * Knowledge of vehicle repair * Ability to listen and follow instructions * Ability to read service and repair manuals * Comfortable using power and hand tools * Computer proficiency * Ability to work independentlyEducation and Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent required * Related experience preferredPhysical Requirements: * Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections * Must be able to work safely in a shop environment which can include loud noise, fumes, and variation in temperature * Must be able to lift 50 lbs
