We are a small, but rapidly growing business Law Firm in Toronto, ON, looking for a Salesperson with consultative sales experience to handle Intake and Sales for our Firm. This position, known to clients as our Inbound Sales Specialist, is responsible for screening leads and conducting intake and sales conversations to identify the potential client’s problem, and when appropriate, selling them “solutions” our Firm provides. Our Founding and Managing Lawyer is an entrepreneur himself who is passionate about taking a "Business First, Legal Second" approach to business law services. Our clients care about business results – making money, saving time, and protecting their reputation. This means our job is to deliver more than just a fancy piece of paper filled with legal ‘mumbo jumbo’. Potential clients reach out to us for help with complex business problems and we believe that we have an obligation to help them find a solution. Most of the time, our solutions just happen to be in the form of providing legal services. We will never ask you to sell anything to anyone if we don’t believe it is truly something that can help them. So, if you think that “sales” is something you do to someone and not for them, then please don’t apply. If you cannot discuss big price points, or recognize that every problem presents an opportunity, then you are not the right person for the job. While we strongly support personal and professional development, we do not have the time to teach you the importance of following up with someone when you say you will, how to use technology, or overcome your fears of having a sales conversation. However, we will provide you with all the training you need to know how to best help our clients. Responsibilities: Your basic responsibilities will include: • Answer phones, triage calls, and take messages with potential clients of the firm. • Screen leads to identify who is qualified to purchase legal services. • Conduct intake & sales conversations to identify business problems and sell solutions. • Oversee the client onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition to the legal team. • Follow up with potential new clients and existing clients. • Develop relationships with our current clients and referral sources to generate repeat business and referrals for the firm. • Track and report metrics relating to marketing & sales conversion data. • Maintain records and enter critical data into the firm’s software systems. Qualifications: If the following describes you, then YOU may be the Sales Specialist we are looking for: • You are a relationship-builder who is comfortable interacting with different types of personalities (easygoing, difficult, wordy, technical, stressed out, etc.) and all levels of authority with tact. • You show empathy to clients and put them at ease during stressful times. • You are skilled at communicating with people on the phone, in person, and by email. • You know how to close a sale by creating urgency and promoting value. • You think on your toes and not be discouraged when things don’t go as planned. • Treat a call or meeting at 5:50 pm on a Friday with the same care and compassion as one on a Monday morning. • You genuinely care about clients and want to deliver an experience that turns them into raving fans. • You follow instructions and understand the importance of policies and procedures. • You’re a team player that consistently acts with respect and integrity. • You are tech-savvy (we use several cloud-based systems) and aren’t afraid to dive into new software or technology. These items are non-negotiable: • You must be available to work and be in the office Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hybrid options may be available once you’re settled into the position. • You don’t give up on a sale and don’t have a problem pushing through the “no”. • You can tactfully talk someone through objections on price, time, husband/wife, the ‘I need to speak with ___’, and other common sales hurdles. • You must be reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain strict confidentiality. • You don’t think making coffee or getting our guests a beverage is beneath you. • You must be a positive, high-energy team player who is results-oriented – No Drama! • You must care about something and have goals in life. Real-life experience and a few “battle scars” providing empathy and understanding are assets. Experience overcoming a major obstacle in life and making an important change in your life so you know at your core that others can do it too, is a plus. Our Sales Specialist doesn’t give legal advice, so legal experience is not required. Prior sales and customer service experience is required because we can teach you how a case moves through the system, but we can’t teach you how to care about someone going through a difficult situation or the importance of following up. We are looking for a results-oriented team player who wants to have a positive impact on people’s lives while helping us grow our business.
