IPN Brainpower Consulting Inc. Sr. Controls Application Engineer For our client, a Vancouver based clean technology company, we are looking for a Controls Application Engineer who will work in direct relationship with the Product Development Teams. Job duties Control system architecture definition & design Control hardware & software qualifications definition Control algorithm and model design Software implementation Software testing and release Define the control system components and architecture that will be used in future projects Solicit, filter, and document hardware and software qualifications from internal and external sources Create models of control features, define interfaces, and implement software solutions for embedded automotive targets Make reliability improvements to the control system Root cause analysis, validation and implementation of solutions Create and execute test plans derived from qualifications for both hardware and software Manage release of software to internal and external customers Job qualifications A Masters Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering At least 5- 10 yrs of automotive industry software engineering background, preferably developing applications for Class eight heavy trucks. Control system project scoping, planning and scheduling background with particular focus on workflow process and release mapping. Solid understanding of automotive controls hardware (sensors, harnesses actuators, and electronic control units) Background in proactively defining controls hardware and software qualifications at all stages of a products life cycle Knowledge and understanding of CAN and J1939 protocols Demonstrated understanding of mechanical subsystems typical in Class eight heavy trucks Fundamental comprehension of OBD and its application on Class eight trucks in both North America and Europe. Background providing efficient and immediate support to aid in resolution of issues present on vehicles or similar products The expertise to provide accurate effort estimates on tasks to help time manage projects and understand resource concerns Exposure to change flow management and supply chain software, preferably PDM link and JDE Proven electrical, mechanical and hydraulic system troubleshooting abilities Highly proficient in developing models using Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow Proficient in C, C++, Perl Familiar with configuration of Wind River (Diab), CCS, and CodeWarrior compilers Please apply via email by sending an adequate resume in a PDF or Microsoft word document and mention the exact position title in the subject line.
