Safety Foreman - Mining Industry - Ontario Canada SAFETY FOREMAN
This position is located Northwest of London, Ontario, Canada (Mine) POSITION DESCRIPTION
Passion for and expertise to communicate safety as a value to promote a collaborative safety culture through safe workplace atmosphere, safe work practices, appropriate policies and worker awareness. Provide support to supervisors on EH&S issues in the workplace, as well as ensuring the organization maintains credibility in all health, safety & environmental systems. EDUCATION * Diploma or certification in technical discipline or in mining industry * three years background in mining operation, in supervisory capacity * Achievement of Common Core training * Preferred: CRSP designation, or evidence demonstrating qualification or pursuit * Preferred: 5 yrs in underground mining operation, in safety-related capacity PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Implementation of EHS&S Policy - focus on safety management systems * Drive "Getting To Zero" initiative and continuous improvement * Evaluate work environments to reduce/eliminate exposure & risk * Review/revise policies & procedures to enhance safe work practices * Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, incl. Sifto's * Conduct various safety training programs and related activities * Participate in and sometimes lead incident investigations * Manage corrective actions for safety defects to ensure completion * Analyze safety data & trends to develop proactive safety exercises * Maintain internal/external safety reporting activities as required * Technical support for monitoring programs: air quality, noise, etc. * Participate in JH&SC meetings * Continually improve safety engagement of line management & workers
