Materials Engineering Technologist (Permanent Full time) Our company is an international manufacturer of ground engaging tools for road maintenance, construction and mining industries. We are currently seeking a dedicated Materials Engineering Technologist to join our team in our Edmonton, Alberta location. Under the direction of the Director, Research & Development, the Materials Engineering Technologist is primarily responsible for tasks involving failure analysis, laboratory maintenance, sample making and testing. The responsibilities in this role will include, but are not limited to: Analyze incoming customer returned products (CRP/CC) involving visual analysis, Brinell hardness measurements, MPI/LPI, Chemical analysis, metallography, Charpy V-notch impact testing and any outsourced testing such as SEM/EDS, etc. Maintain all lab equipment and ensure consumables are stocked Generate reports based on analysis with conclusions Maintain and perform calibration on all equipment Document all testing and calibration to maintain ISO certification Source out new equipment and consumables through competitive suppliers Ensure lab is kept neat and tidy for safe working environment Ensure all chemicals are kept in proper area and containment as well as MSDS binder kept up to date Show lab and explain equipment and procedures to other employees as well as customers Maintain a positive and professional relationship within all levels of the company The perfect applicant will possess a high-level of knowledge & skills in the following competencies: Detail orientated and thorough in execution of work Research, analytic and documentation skills Expertise to manage several tasks simultaneously Expertise to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively in a team environment Proficient technical knowledge with Microsoft office products Required experience/Education would include: A diploma in Materials or Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent 1-4yrs of related skills, or an equivalent combination of education and background ASET member or eligibility towards this membership would be considered an asset.
